A Slack outage on the first Monday of 2021 will cause outages for remote workers who rely on the platform to create messages and video chats with colleagues. It was especially important during the Covid pandemic.

Slack shares fell about 0.7% in Monday’s late morning trading.

In September 2019, the stock fell 14% after the quarterly earnings report found Slack got a $ 8.2 million increase in revenue due to customer credits following service level disruptions. Credits help businesses cover future bills.

Salesforce announced on December 1 that it is buying Slack for more than $ 27 billion.

Slack’s status dashboard said there are issues with Messages and Connections, but didn’t say what was causing the issues or when the chat should go back to normal. The outage apparently started around 10 a.m.ET.

In an update on the outage at 11:20 a.m. ET, Slack said, “We continue to investigate connectivity issues for customers and have upgraded the incident on our end to reflect a service outage. All hands are on deck at our end. to investigate further. “
