The intentions of Oscar de la hoya fighting, even in exhibition mode, are serious.
The multiple champion and, in turn, a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, published a short video about social networks apparently running a training session for a possible comeback.
De La Hoya, 48, announced that his plans are to return to boxing on July 3 as part of the Triller Fight Club event via the pay per view service. The rival has not been announced.
De La Hoya has not fought since 2008 when he lost to Filipino Manny Pacquiao by TKO.
“This is coming true,” De La Hoya wrote on his Instagram account.Three months to go and beast mode is already palpableFor the next 30 days I will focus on speed and (drop) to 158 pounds, then I will start light mitts to get into the rhythm with the thrusts and the last three weeks I will be preparing for war. I’ll show the world that age is just a fucking number
De La Hoya is one of the few ex-boxers to have seen an opportunity after several years of inactivity. First up were Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr, who fought in an exhibition last November.
Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Márquez, Miguel Cotto, Julio César Chánez and Héctor “Machito” Camacho Jr are others who have followed the formula.
