Ori Director apologizes for past criticism of Fable, No Man’s Sky, and Cyberpunk developers

Thomas Mahler made the news this week. The Game Director for Ori and the blind forest and Ori and the likes of the wisps strongly criticized “snake oil sellers” through ResetEra on Wednesday, specifically targeting Peter Molyneux, No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077.

As you can imagine, that led to quite a heated debate. Considering that Will of the Wisps was notably struggling with performance issues at launch, he was accused of hypocrisy and criticized for a ‘reductive’ stance in several quarters.

However, Mahler has since apologized. Make a statement via Twitter yesterday, he went back to his earlier comments and admitted that he “screwed up”:

It was absolutely my intention not to hurt anyone but to provide a discussion starter on current issues facing the industry. We all share a common love for this art form and we must always remain respectful of each other. And I was not yesterday.

Was Mahler right to apologize? Do you agree with his original points or was he mistaken this time? Let us know below.
