Onondaga County today reported 72 new cases of Covid-19, along with two deaths.
County Executive Ryan McMahon said there are currently 72 people in hospitals across the district, with 12 in the ICU.
“Unfortunately, we have lost two neighbors, a 61-year-old man and a resident of a senior facility,” he said.
On Saturday, McMahon said nine people were in intensive care at hospitals in the area because of Covid-19, the lowest level since Nov. 18, according to data from Onondaga County. He also reported a death.
According to the latest county data, the county has surpassed more than 31,000 cases of Covid-19 to date since the pandemic began.
That means that about 1 in 15 people in the province have tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 11 months.
Since the start of the pandemic, 657 people have died and 31,104 cases have been confirmed, according to the province.
