The judge of the Office of Permanent Attention of the San Pedro de Macoris Department of Justice has placed Julio de los Santos Bautista, aka Julito Kilo, in protective custody for a year in a hearing announced on Thursday.

Judge Darlys Eusebio Vásquez also decided to make the case complex by issuing the injunction, after prior knowledge of it was postponed after he was arrested during an operation that took place in a town in Juan Dolio, where they found weapons and drugs. Julito Kilo is accused by the prosecution and the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) of several crimes and hitmen related to the drug trade.

According to what was revealed by Prosecutor Idalia Jiménez, the prosecution has 47 pieces of evidence against the defendants, which will be presented in the merits trial.

According to intelligence reports handled by authorities, Julito Kilo was considered the main and most violent drug dealer operating today.

De los Santos Bautista was imprisoned last Saturday by members of the National Drug Control Directorate during an operation who said they were using high-tech equipment.

The defendant had been arrested and convicted in the United States and repatriated to the Dominican Republic after serving his sentence and involved in several cases.
