Oklahoma Health Commissioner Confirms Downward Trend in COVID-19 Cases

Kendrick said he has doubts as to whether the reduction in the number of new COVID-19 cases is due to ongoing vaccinations. About 32,000 of the nearly 3 million Oklahomas over the age of 18 have received a first and second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Monday through Wednesday, the state reported between 1,500 and 2,000 new COVID-19 cases every day – a drastic drop from the previous week. From January 13 through Sunday, the state reported between 3,000 and 4,000 new COVID-19 cases daily.

The drop in infections coincides with a recent drop in hospital admissions from the record high of 1,926 COVID patients admitted to hospital on January 9.
