Oilers-Canadiens Postponed As Two Montreal Players Enter NHL’s COVID-19 Protocol

Monday night’s scheduled game between the Edmonton Oilers and host Canadiens has been postponed after two Montreal players were placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol.

Attackers Joel Armia and Jesperi Kotkaniemi became the first Montreal players to join the protocol since the season began on January 13.

The league announced the postponement announcement less than an hour before the scheduled start time of 7 p.m. ET at Bell Center.

The delay was the 38th overall this season for coronavirus-related reasons, and the first to involve the all-Canadian North Division of seven teams.

The league listed 10 players in the protocol, while the Los Angeles Kings were still waiting for their test results. The 10 listed players are the closest since February 21st.

A total of 157 NHL players have now spent at least one day in the COVID-19 protocol this season. Calgary is the only team that does not have a player on the list.
