Officers run Van in pursuit on highways in San Diego, Orange and LA – NBC Los Angeles counties

Officers chased a van driver on SoCal highways from northern San Diego County to Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, before a CHP officer sent the vehicle around in the Pacoima area.

The chase began in Oceanside and headed north on the 5 Freeway.

It entered downtown LA around 3:30 PM and arrived ten minutes later in the Cahuenga Pass between Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. The driver continued north on 101 Freeway and changed to 170 Freeway.

There seem to be two people in the van. The driver appeared to be waving a gun from the window near East Los Angeles.

He then dropped the gun at 170 Freeway, where it was picked up by officers.

A CHP officer performed a PIT maneuver a few miles later, spinning the van and ending the chase in Pacoima.

It was not immediately clear what led to the chase.
