NYC Weather: A Sunday Snowstorm Could Take City, Parts of the Tri-State, Another Inches

NEW YORK (WABC) – A winter storm warning is in effect on Sunday, as a fast-moving system will deposit three to six inches of snow for most of the Tri-State area, likely requiring shoveling and plowing.

WARNING: Winter storm warning New York City, Long Island, and parts of the Tri-State area

Sundays will be windy at different speeds, decreasing late in the afternoon.

The heaviest snowfall is expected between 11am and 2pm

Untreated roads will be snow covered and slippery as three to six inches of snow accumulate for most areas, but six to four inches is possible over eastern Long Island, which will be closer to the storm’s trail. South Jersey should expect less snow due to milder temperatures that allow rain to mix.

snow totals

Expect an inch to three inches north and west of the city, as those areas will be far from much of the moisture with this storm.

Some rain and sleet can initially mix right on the shore before the snow takes over.

And keep those shovels on hand next week. We may have a chance of snow or rain on Tuesday, allowing us to enter some bitterly cold polar air.
