NYC reports 201 new hospital admissions for the coronavirus

NEW YORK – Nearly 2,900 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the city in the past 24 hours, and an additional 201 people have been admitted to hospitals.

The mayor’s office said on Thursday, 2,890 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the city in the past day.

The seven-day average positivity rate in New York City is 6.29%, a bit more than the day before.

Statewide, 12,568 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed from 226,296 tests.

The state’s positivity rate is 5.55%.


COVID-19 hospital admissions in the state are now at 6,928. According to the office of Governor Andrew Cuomo, there are now one hundred and sixty patients in the ICU, 621 of whom are intubated. In the spring, hospital admissions in upstate New York peaked at about 18,000 people.

One hundred twenty-nine people in New York State died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The confirmed state death toll is 29,149.
