A group of young cyclists attacked a BMW in broad daylight in Manhattan and terrorized the man and woman inside in a terrifying ambush that was captured on video.
Several attackers surrounded the luxury ride on Fifth Avenue and 21st Street Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., with some hitting the vehicle with their fists and feet, and another crashing a bike on it, video posted on Instagram by Breaking911 shows.
An attacker got a run-up, jumped on the hood of the BMW and jumped on top of the windshield, causing it to partially collapse, the video shows.
“This was an animal attack in broad daylight,” said a Manhattan officer who noted that the vehicle’s occupants, a man and a woman in their 50s, feared for their lives. “It shows how far the city has deteriorated and the politicians better stick their heads out of the sand and tackle these problems before there is nothing left.”
The same group similarly attacked a taxi a short time later, the source said.
Both incidents are under investigation.
It was not immediately clear what preceded the wild incident or whether arrests had been made.
