NVIDIA warns that you cannot buy a new GPU this year

Sorry all – if you’ve been struggling (everyone is trying) to buy a new GeForce RTX 30 series graphics card – it’s not going to get any better this year.

NVIDIA warns you will not be able to buy a new GPU at any time this year 521 | TweakTown.com

NVIDIA now says that 2021 will not get better for PC gamers and that GPU shortages will persist throughout 2021 and into 2022. NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress explained at NVIDIA’s annual investor day: “We expect demand to continue to outpace supply for most of this year. Our operations team is agile and performs fantastic. We expect our inventories to increase as the year goes on

The company notes that many of its graphics cards are being picked up not only by scalpers, but also by crypto miners, with NVIDIA responding to crypto miners buying in large numbers of GPUs with the introduction of the new Crypto Mining Processor (CMP) series of mining GPUs .

NVIDIA relies on both TSMC and Samsung for the production of its GPUs, and nothing can be done to make more graphics cards – at least within the power of NVIDIA. There are major supply chain issues, government troubles, the ongoing and seemingly never-ending COVID-19 pandemic, and a million other things (scalpers, crypto miners, the boom in crypto prices across the board, etc.).
