Nurse arrested for stealing doses of COVID vaccine from TCF Center, police say

DETROIT – Police said a nurse has been arrested for stealing doses of the coronavirus vaccine from the TCF Center in Detroit.

Another nurse witnessed the attempted theft and immediately reported it, police said. The nurse accused of the attempted robbery worked for a contractor and was hired to give the vaccine to Detroit residents.

The nurse is accused of putting two syringes of Pfizer vaccine in her pocket. She was arrested by the Detroit police.

Detroit Chief Operating Officer Hakim Berry said the vaccine is being carefully monitored.

“Our vaccines are stored in a secure location,” said Berry. “Even when we deliver, they are with a security guard. We take into account every syringe we hand out. “
