Through a partnership agreement with VOCES, NUC University faculty and staff began receiving their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine earlier this week. The university also reported that they already have a plan for the vaccination of their students as soon as the Secretary of the Department of Health, Dr. Carlos Mellado López, announces the opening of the corresponding stage. Since October 2020, the students of the University School of Nursing have been participating as volunteers in the vaccination events organized by VOCES. This alliance allowed NUC University to take the necessary steps to get ready for the immunization of its staff. As part of the partnership agreement, both staff and students have participated in training courses that have enabled them to participate in major events on the island and be ready for this process.

“We thank VOCES once again for its excellent work and dedication to the health of Puerto Rico. Having their experience and knowledge has been key in preparing us for the vaccination process of our university community. Our students have had the privilege of being a part of this historic moment, in which VOCES has provided them with an experience that will contribute to their academic future. We believe these experiences will be memorable for our students who strive to be great health workers to serve our communities, ”said Michael W. Bannett, president of NUC University.
