Kinzinger, LaHood’s fellow Illinian, has acknowledged his vote may have ended his political career, but has so far backed his decision by launching a PAC to challenge the GOP’s embrace of “Trumpism”.
When asked whether the 10 GOP lawmakers who voted to impeach would still receive funding for their campaigns, LaHood replied, “Absolutely.”
“If we’re going to be the majority party – which I think we’ll do – you have to accept that we’re a big tent,” said LaHood. “I’ve tried to take that philosophy and that attitude, that’s how we’re going to be the majority party.”
“I’m looking at our freshman class that just came in, and that diversity is what we need to build,” LaHood added.
Republicans in several states took congressional seats, weakening Democrats’ hold on the US House. Democrats also haven’t taken back the Senate by increasing margins in 2020, though they won the majority after the former Georgia Sens. David Perdue

LaHood continued, “The fact that we have not lost one incumbent operator [in 2020] is pretty incredible, and then to pick up all the seats we’ve done, so our job at the NRCC is to protect our incumbents, and the money we help raise goes to that. “
In a statement to The Hill, NRCC spokesperson Michael McAdams said: “The NRCC position has not changed. We support our members in general elections and do not get involved in primaries. We look forward to building on the successes of the previous cycle and retake the majority. “
