Nothing ticks Teenage Engineering to design upcoming products

Swedish electronics company Teenage Engineering, best known for its line of beautifully designed audio products, is partnering with Nothing on upcoming product releases. Nothing is the new consumer technology brand from ex-OnePlus director Carl Pei. Pei says Teenage Engineering is one of the founders of Nothing and will drive the design aesthetic of his new company.

Pei says he has already worked with Teenage Engineering to create a product roadmap “that is unique and true to Nothing’s vision.” Nothing’s first product is a pair of wireless earbuds, which will be released this summer. It will be curious to see what design elements they get from Teenage Engineering’s M-1 headphones.

Nothing says Jesper Kouthoofd, co-founder and CEO of Teenage Engineering, will serve as the creative leader and “visionary behind the design world of Nothing,” while Tom Howard, Vice Head of Design at Teenage Engineering, becomes Nothing’s Head of Design. “After months of research and development, we are now in a place where I think we can show something exciting to the world,” said Kouthoofd.

As a reminder of the types of products Teenage Engineering has released over the years, check out the OB-4, a radio / instrument / speaker hybrid with a built-in endless looping tape that lets you manually rewind whatever is playing on the speaker . There was also a range of $ 89 mini synths featuring sounds from retro Capcom titles, or the modular synthesizers it released last year.

Teenage Engineering also collaborated with Ikea on a range of audio products.
