Raleigh, NC More people in North Carolina are getting COVID-19 vaccines as the state gives more providers the green light to meet increasing demand. In addition, the state is seeing a big increase in the doses sent here.
Some figures from the state’s vaccination report:
- North Carolina sees a 23% increase in new first doses assigned by the federal government.
- New data from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services shows that 2.3 million people have received the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine through state-registered providers.
Vaccinations against the coronavirus in NC
- Last week, the state received 162,875 new first doses.
- Wake County has increased from 11 to 27 vaccine providers.
- Durham County has gone from 6 to 11 vaccine providers.
- For the next three weeks (the weeks of Feb. 22, March 3, and March 10), the state expects to receive 200,120 new first doses from the federal government.


Many counties have seen large turnouts at school vaccination clinics and event centers. Earlier this month, a drive-thru COVID-19 vaccine clinic at West Johnston High School reached capacity just 10 minutes after opening.


Due to last week’s bad weather, many carriers will receive last week’s allocations in addition to their allocation for this week between February 22 and February 24.
