No additional deaths from COVID-19 were reported Saturday as the trend of the case continues to slip

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Officials did not report new people dying as a result of the new coronavirus for the state total as of Saturday morning, while the seven-day trend continued to decline in newly reported cases.

As of 10:30 a.m., the Iowa Department of Public Health said 560 individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 have been added to the state total, which is now 332,182 people in total. The seven-day moving average of new positive individuals reported per day is 497, the lowest since August 14.

The state no longer reports the number of people considered to have recovered from the disease.

Since no additional people have died from the virus, the state’s total remains 5,336 since the start of the pandemic.

238 people are hospitalized for COVID-19, a net decrease of three since Friday morning’s report. 56 of those people are in intensive care, a net decrease of four. 24 of those patients require the use of a ventilator, a net decrease of two. In the past 24-hour reporting period, 34 people have been admitted to hospitals in Iowa.

An additional 2,121 people reported their test results in the past 24 hours, resulting in a positivity rate of 26.4%. The total number of people tested is now 1,536,509.
