No one can deny that Nintendo one huge successful 2020. With an operating result that has increased by 98%, Animal Crossing: New Horizons With 31 million sales and an 87% market share of the console market in Japan, the company’s recent financial report confirmed that it has succeeded extreme well lately.

Despite this, we haven’t heard much about the upcoming 2021 software line. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury arrives next week and New Pokémon Snap launches in April, but – outside Encourage absenteeism II (which publishes it outside of Japan) – Nintendo’s current plans feel pretty bare.

As we discussed those financial results at a conference call, a question was asked about Nintendo’s upcoming software plans for the next fiscal year. In response, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed:

Our software line-up for next fiscal year is a topic we’ll be discussing at the right time. We’ve announced all our plans to release Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury in February, followed by MONSTER HUNTER RISE in March (see note 1) and new Pokémon Snap in April (see note 2). As always, we are preparing a variety of consumer software titles in the coming fiscal year.

In other words, we’ll have to wait. Nintendo usually doesn’t announce upcoming games too far in advance – with a few exceptions – so this isn’t an unexpected response from Furukawa. For now, however, it seems unlikely that we’ll hear anything new.
