Nintendo to be continued Re-enable Joy-Con controllers

Nintendo has handled a number of lawsuits over Switch’s Joy-Con drift issue in recent years. Every few months, it seems that the world-renowned game developer faces another lawsuit. Now that we have entered 2021, you would be wrong if you thought this trend was finally going to end.

Another lawsuit against Nintendo was recently filed in Quebec, Canada for, what else, but Joy-Con drift issues. The case is being led by a law firm in the region called Lambert Avocat, which represents a client who reportedly had problems with their Switch controllers dating back to 2018. The lawsuit specifically concerns the class action variant and Lambert is said to be seeking to “compensation for all Quebec consumers who purchased the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite gaming systems, as well as Joy-Con and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers.”

As for the other specifics of this case, Lambert says their client first experienced anomalous issues with their Joy-Cons about 11 months after they first obtained their Switch. At first, they contacted Nintendo regarding the issue and eventually sent the controller in for repair. Within two months of getting the Joy-Con back, they started having the same problem with their other handheld device. This drifting then affected another pair of Joy-Cons bought alongside a Pro controller also being used.

Lambert is looking for other Switch owners who have purchased the console since August 1, 2017 and have also had the same issues joining the lawsuit. At this point, the case needs further approval from a judge before moving forward, but chances are it will continue to gain momentum.

If there are any significant developments with this latest lawsuit against Nintendo, we’ll let you know in the future. In the meantime, if you’d like to keep up with all of our upcoming coverage of the Switch, you can find it here.
