Nintendo Switch system update 12.0.0 is now live

Nintendo Switch

While there were reports of a minor system update on its way to the Switch last month, it appears Nintendo switched right away to version 12.0.0 instead.

If you were hoping for things like folders, themes and various other exciting features, we’re sorry to say, but there isn’t. Instead, this latest update resolves an issue related to the data backup saving feature.

Here’s the full rundown of the official patch notes, courtesy of Nintendo’s website:

Far. 12.0.0 (released April 5, 2021)

We fixed the issue with the backup of saved data feature, where in rare cases automatic backup of saved data is interrupted if a communication error occurs while completing the backup process for saved data.

As mentioned above, if this error has been a problem on your end, you can refer to this page for more information.

This update is a follow-up to version 11.0.1 released in December last year that fixes a number of issues with version 11.0.0. Read more about this in our previous post.
