Nintendo Switch surprises fans with covert release of 90s classic game

Nintendo and SNK have surprised Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite players with a new stealth release. Two days before Christmas, and amid massive promotional sales on the Nintendo eShop, SNK released Fatal Fury: First Contact for Switch and Switch Lite, via Nintendo eShop and now only via Nintendo eShop. In other words, the game on Switch and Switch Lite is not currently available at retail in any form.

Starting today, all Nintendo Switch users can download the classic Neo Geo Pocket Color game that debuted in 1909 for just $ 8. As you may know, this isn’t the first Neo Geo game released by SNK on Switch and Switch Lite. , and it probably won’t be the last, but it will be the newest.

In addition to $ 8, all that download of the game requires 147MB of available space. That said, not only does the game on Switch support all three modes of play – handheld, TV, and tabletop – but it supports up to two players. Unfortunately, the language options are limited to English and Japanese only.

As you might know, Fatal Fury: First Contact was the 10th and penultimate entry in the series to debut via the Neo Geo Pocket Color, but has since been ported to a variety of platforms. One of the less popular items in the series, it’s more or less a portable version of it Real attack 2, or at least it’s loosely based on the game that came before it a year earlier.
