Nintendo Switch Online report has bad news for subscribers

A new Nintendo Switch Online report has bad news for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite subscribers. Right now, Nintendo Switch Online is treating those with a subscription to the subscription service every month with “free” NES and SNES games. In 2021, the Nintendo Switch Online library will be packed with many of the best and most popular SNES and NES games. As it fills up, many subscribers are starting to wonder what’s next. It makes sense to add N64 games to the mix, some of which have suggested rumors and leaks are going to happen. A few other rumors and leaks have suggested that Nintendo will skip the N64 in favor of GameCube and Wii games. Meanwhile, there are even rumors that Nintendo is about to overhaul the subscription service and add all three of these legacy consoles.

That said, none of this is happening, at least not in the short term, according to a new report. Speaking to these recent rumors and rumors, industry insider Nate Drake claims they haven’t heard “a shred of information” about a Nintendo Switch Online refresh. Of course, this doesn’t mean it’s not happening, but given that the insider is at the forefront of Nintendo Switch Pro reporting, it would be odd if they didn’t know there was going to be a NSO overhaul.

On top of that, the insider has serious doubts that a Nintendo Switch Online revision will be shared soon, let alone released soon. Previous rumors, like the one they are talking about, claim that something could happen on the NSO front this month or next.

Now take all of this with a grain of salt. Right now we have several layers of unofficial information, all of which are also subject to change.

Nintendo has not yet commented on this at the time of publication. Normally, Nintendo will refrain from commenting on rumors, reports, leaks and any information about the unofficial and speculative variant. In other words, don’t expect this to change, but if for some reason we will update the story accordingly.

Elsewhere in the Nintendo rumor mill is a new report of a huge Nintendo Direct in the cooking pot and new evidence pointing to the existence of the Nintendo Switch Pro, the highly anticipated Switch revision that will add more power and specs to the platform on a premium price.
