Nintendo Switch leak reveals possible return of the Star Wars game from 2005

A new Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite leak has spoiled the possible return of a 2005 classic Star Wars game. Developers and publishers have flocked their classic games to the Switch and Switch Lite, and so far this old-time migration includes ports with classic Star Wars spell. And now it looks Star Wars: Republic Commando takes part in this migration to Nintendo handhelds.

According to Nintendo Everything, update data for Star Wars: Republic Commando has been uploaded to Nintendo’s servers, which in turn suggests that not only is the 2005 game coming to Switch and Switch Lite, but an announcement and release is imminent, or in other words, coming sooner rather than later.

As noted, Aspypr is listed as the publisher, which is notable because they already have Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and Episode I Racer to the Switch and Switch. Meanwhile, Nintendo Everything also points out that this is exactly how several Switch games have leaked in the past, including both Paladins and Fortnite.

For those who don’t know: Star Wars: Republic Commando debuted in 2005, and initially it was exclusive to Xbox before coming to PC a few days later. That said, while the game did come to PC quickly, it never made it to a Nintendo or PlayStation platform.

“Chaos has broken out in the galaxy,” reads an official pitch from LucasArts’ tactical first-person shooter game. “As the leader of an elite squad of Republic Commandos, your mission is to infiltrate, dominate and ultimately destroy the enemy. Your team will command you and obey your lead and work as a team – instinctual, intelligent, immediate. Are their leader. They are your weapon. “

At the time of publication, Aspyr has not commented on this apparent leak in any way. Neither is Nintendo or LucasArts. That said, if this changes, we’ll be sure to update the story accordingly.

Interestingly, this leak stems from rumors that Aspyr is working towards an AAA resurgence of DIRTY. Does this leak give credence to the rumors or vice versa? Well, that’s exactly what Star Wars fans are currently debating.
