Nintendo Life eShop Selects – March 2021 – Feature

EShop Selects

Last month, we celebrated the Switch’s fourth anniversary in the market. It’s a nice little milestone, but despite being in the hands of consumers for so long, the console approach to eShop findability still has a long way to go.

These awards are meant to celebrate the best of Nintendo’s digital store and show some love and attention to the games that could so easily be missed in the Switch’s ever-expanding library.

So let’s get started. These are the best Switch eShop games of March 2021!

Honorable Mentions:

While these titles didn’t quite make it into our top three this month, they are definitely worth checking out:

Tales from the Borderlands (Switch eShop)Tales from the Borderlands (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Take-Two Interactive Developer: Take-Two Interactive

Publication date: March 23, 2021 (United States March 24, 2021 (UK / EU

Third place this month is Tales from the Borderlands, a game we consider to be one of Telltale Games’ best endeavors.

Switch owners today have several choice-driven narrative adventures to choose from, but this is exactly what comes with the very best. In our full review (the game got a seriously strong 9/10 from us), we described it as’ ten glorious hours of top-notch entertainment, consistently excellent writing, non-stop twisted action and a cast of wacky characters who are a joy to spend time with to spend. “

Do yourself a favor and check this one out if interested. This could be the best the Borderlands universe has ever been.

Narita Boy (Switch eShop)Narita Boy (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Team 17 Developer: Studio Koba

Publication date: March 30, 2021 (United States

However, Narita Boy is just ahead of Tales of the Borderlands this month. A great Metroidvania published by Team17, Narita Boy is a tribute to the culture of the 80’s and, most importantly, gets it right

In our review, we praised the beautiful handcrafted visuals, exceptional combat mechanics, varied enemy designs, and great music, all brought together in a well-worthwhile package. If you’re looking for your next taste of Metroidvania action, here it is.

Everhood (Switch eShop)Everhood (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Foreign gnomes Developer: Foreign gnomes

Publication date: March 4, 2021 (United States 2021 (UK / EU

Just in the top spot this month (the votes were the closest to what they’ve been around for a while) is Everhood.

Everhood is a crazy mix of RPG, rhythm action, kart racing, and bullet-hell shmup-esque gameplay, and if that doesn’t leave you at least a little intrigued, we don’t know what will. We described Everhood as “one of the most memorable games we’ve played in recent years,” with its outrageous plot and characters, yet instantly accessible gameplay that makes for a great match.

This is the kind of game best suited for anyone looking for something different which, let’s be honest, is exactly what the indie scene is all about. Give it a try – you won’t regret it!

How We Decide Our eShop Selects the Top Three: At the end of each month, Nintendo Life employees vote for their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editors. To be eligible for this list, these games must have been released as a Nintendo Switch eShop digital title that month and must have been rated on Nintendo Life; we select the qualifying games based on their review scores.

Staff are then asked to vote for three games they think deserve to be at the very top of that list; first choice gets 3 points, second choice gets 2 points and third choice gets 1 point. These votes are then added together to make a top three list, with the overall winner taking the top prize for that month.
