Nintendo Life eShop Selects – December 2020 – Feature

EShop Selects

December was another busy month on the Nintendo Switch eShop, with plenty of fantastic games to choose from for some holiday fun. Of course, then we should probably get the good old Nintendo Life eShop Selects prizes!

These awards are meant to celebrate the best of Nintendo’s digital store and show some love and attention to the games that could be so easily missed in the Switch’s ever-expanding library.

So let’s get started. Here are the best Switch eShop games of December 2020!

Honorable Mentions:

While these titles didn’t quite make it to our top three this month, they are definitely worth checking out.

Dicey Dungeons (Switch eShop)Dicey Dungeons (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Distraction material / Developer: Distraction material

Publication date: December 15, 2020 (United States) / December 15, 2020 (UK / EU)

In third place this month is Dicey Dungeons, a cute, annoying but dangerous enjoyable roguelike adventure. The game takes place in a bizarre game show, where players are turned into a playing die and have to fight their way through a series of treacherous, changing dungeons ruled by chance. In our review, we gave it one very strong 9/10, praised the gameplay variety, music and combat system. Make sure to read it and download the game if it sounds like it could be your thing.

Among us (Switch eShop)Among us (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Inner cloth / Developer: Inner cloth

Publication date: December 15, 2020 (United States) / December 15, 2020 (UK / EU)

Second place is one you’ve probably heard of, even if you haven’t had the chance to play: Among Us yet. This one has taken the gaming world by storm over the countless lockdowns we’ve been dealing with lately, so it’s no surprise that the Nintendo Life team has had a lot of fun with it now that it’s finally on Switch.

You need a group of friends and a separate voice chat app to get the most out of this app, but once those barriers are overcome, here’s an instantly accessible and super addictive casual gaming experience that’s perfect for playing online. -together. Get killed if you haven’t already!

DOOM Eternal (Switch eShop)DOOM Eternal (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Bethesda / Developer: id software

Publication date: December 8, 2020 (United States) / December 8, 2020 (UK / EU)

And winning the gold is a game that shouldn’t even have been eligible for the prizes. Yes, DOOM Eternal is technically a digital eShop game on the Nintendo platform, which means that despite its huge fan base and equally large budget, it indeed meets our strict criteria.

The big talking point with this one, of course, is the serious, but unfortunately essential, visual downgrade required for the game to work properly on Switch. We’ll admit it looks significantly better on other systems, but the fact that Panic Button got the thing running on a tiny portable tablet – at a solid 30fps, no less – is remarkable.

Keep in mind that the game itself is another beautiful, gritty, demonic journey through hell that’s just as satisfying as you’d hope for, and it gets pretty easy to see why we’ve nominated this to be our top pick. the couple. Rip and tear, folks. Rest in peace. And. Tear.

How We Decide Our eShop Selects the Top Three: At the end of each month, Nintendo Life employees vote for their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editors. To be eligible for this list, these games must have been released as a Nintendo Switch eShop digital title that month and must have been rated on Nintendo Life; we select the qualifying games based on their rating scores.

Staff are then asked to vote for three games that they think deserve to be at the very top of that list; first choice gets 3 points, second choice gets 2 points and third choice gets 1 point. These votes are then added together to make a top three list, with the overall winner taking the top prize for that month.
