SANTA CLARA, California. – After moving his entire football operation to Arizona for some initially they expected it to take only three weeks, the San Francisco 49ers they will finish the 2020 regular season in the desert.
A team spokesperson said the decision had been made to stay in the Phoenix area until the end of the NFL season. after Santa Clara County announced it would renew its COVID-19 restrictionsincluding the ban on contact sports, until at least January 8th.
The 49ers, who were already planning to stay until the December 26 game against the Arizona Cardinals, they will also receive Seattle Seahawks in Glendale, Arizona, on January 3.
By the end of the season, the Niners will have played three home games and one road game at State Farm Stadium during the last month of the season.
The expansion of the Santa Clara County Protocols was something the Niners looked forward to when they moved in, so coach Kyle Shanahan told his team he and the operations staff would do their best to bring the creatures player enthusiasts to Arizona for Christmas week.
“The day they forced us to leave, we assumed that would happen,” Shanahan said. “That’s why we made the decision early. We had no intention of waiting for something that we knew was inevitable, so we intended to bring our families here. ‘
This process is already underway. Shanahan said on Friday that his family will head to the Phoenix region on Saturday and they will have COVID-19 tests which, if negative, will allow him to see them once the Niners return from Sunday’s road race against the Dallas Cowboys.

The 49ers moved to Arizona on December 2 after the initial announcement of the improved Santa Clara County guidelines on November 28. They have since lost games “at home” Buffalo Bills and Washington drop to 5-8 and have seen their post-season hopes fade.
