Nine youths were shot after a feud broke out Saturday night at a 12-year-old child’s birthday party in Louisiana, authorities said.
About 60 young people were attending the meeting in a house in LaPlace when gunfire rang out at about 8:40 PM, according to a press release from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators believe that an argument between two groups of young men led to the shooting.
Gunshot victims were 17 years old and younger. Two of them remained in hospital from Monday, police said, while the other seven were treated and released.
No arrests have been made and police said the witnesses to the chaos remained mothers.
“No one has made a formal statement,” Sheriff Mike Tregre said in a statement.
“I am asking witnesses to provide information to help us learn more about what happened,” he said.
