Nicki Minaj talks about ‘all night’ delivery and ‘painful’ breastfeeding 3 months after welcoming first child

Nicki Minaj has given a candid insight into motherhood to celebrate her beloved son – nicknamed ‘Papa Bear’ – turning three months old.

The 38-year-old Moment 4 Life hitmaker – who shares her son with husband Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty – discussed her birth story and motherhood as a whole on Wednesday during an impromptu Q&A by fans on Twitter.

When asked about her first time breastfeeding her child, she wrote: ‘He had no problems breastfeeding. He clung to the hospital, which was very surprising to me …

‘I was afraid he might not. But breastfeeding is very painful. Pumping is too. Women make this stuff look way too easy. Moms really are superheroes (sic) ‘.

The Barbie Dreams hitmaker admitted she was ‘butt naked’ when her waters broke at home, and husband Kenneth Petty was ‘very scared’ at the time.

When asked about the experience, she replied, ‘Yes. I was completely naked. I just got out of the shower and I asked him to rub my back. As soon as I started running up to him in the bed I just felt the water come out.

‘I was weirdly calm and I said softly’ omg, I’m about to give birth ‘. He was very scared and I laughed @ him. (sic) ‘.

Nicki, née Onika Maraj, admitted her ‘intrigued’ her baby had “a full personality in my stomach” and “knew how to get his way” well before his arrival on September 30.

As the questions kept pouring in, she was also asked about the delivery itself and was happy to give details to her fans.

She added: ‘Yes, natural vaginal birth with epidural. I pushed for 2 1/2 hours. Only because at first the epidural wasn’t worn down enough to feel myself pushing. Once I could feel the pain, I pushed out. (sic) ‘

When a follower suggested that for a first time mom this was “ short, ” Nicki pointed out that she slept long.

She explained, ‘Well, I was actually in labor all night, but they just let me sleep until I widened far enough to push. The epidural didn’t hurt either. They numbed me really well. So I took my right to sleep (sic) ‘.

‘I pushed for 2 1/2 hours. Nothing but [because] First, the epidural wasn’t worn down enough for me to feel pushing. Once I could feel the pain, I pushed it out. ‘

Nicki then said Grammy winner Ciara – who has three children under the age of six – was ‘so helpful’ and wrote ‘bless her’.
