NFL Rumors: Eagles spoke Carson Wentz trade with 2 teams, the report said

The buzz about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is building up quickly. But it becomes difficult to know what to believe.

Ben Albright, an NFL reporter for KOA Radio in Denversays the “Niners and (surprise) Texans have made phone calls that I am aware of. Many ‘offers’ are being leaked, which usually means that the team that is shopping a player is still fishing. … Basically 2 or 3 teams in it, but not for the Eagles prize. Leaks about ‘compensation’ coming from the Philly side as they try to engage teams and drive up the price. A few other teams called to inquire about the price, but made no offers. “

But at the same time, the John McClain of Houston Chronicle says the Texans, who shop quarterback Deshaun Watson, are not a likely trade candidate with the Eagles.

They don’t call teams. Teams call them. And they’ve told everyone they don’t trade Watson. Doesn’t mean they won’t end up doing it. I guarantee you that if they did, it wouldn’t be for Carson Wentz and the Eagles. And they have said it publicly, they have said it privately that they are not trading Watson. And so anyone who says they called the Eagles is not true. If they were to trade him, it would be [to] the Jets. So no, they haven’t contacted anyone about trading Watson. “

As for Wentz’s rumors, the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears are the two teams most closely associated with the Eagles.

The Colts could be the front runner for Wentz as they have a ton of cap space, need a QB after Philip Rivers’ retirement, and employ a pair of former Wentz teachers: head coach Frank Reich and wide receiver coach Mike Groh.

But the Bears also make sense as a possible destination for Wentz. Chicago remains interested in moving on from QB Mitch Trubisky. The Bears also have Nick Foles as the quarterback, which could be an interesting toss-in as part of a Wentz trade. Plus, on Monday, the Bears promoted former Wentz confidant John DeFilippo to race coordinator.
