Rhode Island’s new online vaccination submission tool is now live.
The site can be found here and allows Rhode Islanders to enroll in vaccinations. Some have already signed up.
The site was developed by ClinicWizard Inc. – a division of Multi-State Partnership for Prevention, which is a subsidiary of the Maryland Partnership for Prevention.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) identified Prepmod – ClinicWizard’s sister technology identified in the department’s highly questionable plan filed with the CDC in October. A GoLocal investigation revealed the numerous flaws in the state’s plan.
RIDOH has declined to provide an updated copy of the updated CDC plan or the agency’s vaccination plan.
The state’s plan submitted in October stated, “Reporting vaccines during the COVID-19 response requires many new and existing systems to exchange data. During H1N1, notified providers did not use the online vaccine reporting system as RIDOH intended as it was a manual process and providers often did not serve the data as requested. Since the Rhode Island adult immunization registry is new, some providers are getting on board for the first time, and those who don’t have the capacity to submit HL7 files to the registry will use PrepMod, which is also new. “
Under the state’s plan, “Training for vaccination sites that will use the PrepMod system will be conducted through the PrepMod provider and coordinated through the Training Coordinator in RIDOH’s immunization program. The training coordinator is the point of contact for all vaccination sites and assists with training planning and meeting any additional training needs. All administrative employees who will use the system will receive online training. Mass vaccinators, MV Workgroup personnel and other state personnel, and hospitals that will use PrepMod will be trained within the next month.
And, wrote RIDOH, “The vendor who developed and supports PrepMod is aware of CDC’s COVID-19 vaccine data requirements and is working to adapt the system to ensure it meets all necessary data collection requirements. and reporting. RIDOH uploads COVID Provider subscription files to CDC twice a week as required in a CSV file based on data in a PrepMod extraction file. “
According to RIDOH, “reports can be run in RICAIR [Rhode Island Child and Adult Immunization Registry] up to the level of the health care provider to monitor the doses being delivered. PrepMod includes a real-time inventory tracking feature.
“In the event that PrepMod is completely inaccessible, Rhode Island can revert to paper recording, including the processes referenced in the Rhode Island Medical Emergency Distribution System Plan (maintained by RIDOH).”
