While problematic, Urban Meyer is always consistent.

In his first job as a head coach since ‘retiring’ from the state of Ohio after covering and lying about knowing one of his most trusted aides was beating his wife, Urban Meyer has unveiled its coaching staff with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and it features a guy who has said really mean things to black people in the past.

Former Iowa strength trainer Chris Doyle will serve as the Jaguars director of sports performance.

Why was Doyle in the market for a new job, you ask?

Because he was run out of town during his last performance over allegations of what he said to black players over several decades.

In June, Doyle reached a divorce agreement with the school where he worked as a strength and conditioning coach since 1999 (for which he made $ 800,000 a year, while running away into divorce with nearly ¾ of that) after a large group of black players reported how he assaulted them for years.

“There have been statements about my behavior that are not true,” Doyle wrote in a statement from the summer. “I don’t claim to be perfect. I’ve made mistakes, learned lessons, and like any American citizen, I can do better. I have never crossed the line of unethical behavior or racial bias. I don’t make racist remarks and I don’t tolerate people who do. “

Look, I don’t call Doyle a racist.

But …

When a white person accused of being racist says he isn’t racist, you can be sure that the damning evidence is right around the corner. It’s racism 101: “deny, deny, deny.” One of the allegations against Doyle was that he told black players that he “send them back to the ghettoIf they didn’t meet his standards.

Here’s a rundown of some of the other things black players from the program shared about what happened behind closed doors:

Emmanuel Rugamba: Iowa WR 2016-2017

Cedric Boswell: Iowa DB 2016-2017

Terrance Pryor: Iowa LB 2008-2011

Akrum Wadley: Iowa RB 2014-2017

I hope Chris Doyle tries this with grown men in the NFL. Because if he does, a whooping cough will be waiting for him.
