In a new video, popular YouTuber Filip Koroy, aka EverythingApplePro, has revealed leaked iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro CAD designs that show Apple is introducing massive new rear cameras to the lineup. In fact, Koroy describes them as “very capriciously large” and a “massive increase in size”.

04/19 Update: A new report from superstar Apple insider Ming-Chi Kuo (via AppleInsider) today unveiled further iPhone 13 upgrades. Kuo states that it Next Generation 5G Modems within the range will provide global support for the ultra-fast 5G mmWave specification. The iPhone 12 series surprised many with the lack of support for mmWave outside of the US, while many cheaper handsets (like Google’s Pixel 5) did. What Kuo didn’t reveal was whether this expanded mmWave support will reach the full range or be limited to iPhone 13 Pro models. mmWave is notoriously battery hungry, which makes it questionable for the iPhone 13 Mini and this in turn could affect the iPhone 13 as Apple likes the phones to be functionally identical. Watch this space.

While the images above and below best illustrate this change, Koroy also has specific dimensions. “On the iPhone 13 Pro Max, we have a 3.41mm higher lens and [it is] now 4.81mm wider, making it look more like a rounded square than that of the 12 Pro Max. “

It’s a similar change for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini’s dual cameras, with Koroy also confirming the new diagonal camera setup that leaked earlier this week. The changes mark the beginning of a new trend towards super-sized smartphone cameras following the launch of Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra earlier this month.

In addition, Koroy also notes that the other major design change to the iPhone 13 range: “These CADs confirm a smaller notch because they have a smaller earphone that sits right on top.” While the new notch is only about 30% smaller than the current one since the iPhone X, it’s very welcome and (arguably) overdue.

Further tops from Koroy include a ‘confirmation’ that the SIM card holder will now be integrated with the PCB to save space while the volume buttons and mute switch have been “migrated north 2-3mm”. The new iPhone 13 models will also be nearly identical in size to their predecessors, but old cases won’t fit due to the change in camera size.

While previous leaks have revealed that Apple’s next-gen iPhones will have 120Hz ProMotion displays, next-gen 5G modems, increased Wi-Fi speed and range, an improved version of MagSafe, and significantly improved power efficiency, there is no doubt that their huge new cameras will be too. the biggest topic of conversation.

Combined with previously leaked image stabilization improvements and an exciting new portrait video mode, hopes will be high that the iPhone 13 lineup will return to the top of the camera rankings. The good news is twofold: 1. We don’t have to wait long to find out and 2. From here, Apple plans “next level” upgrades.
