Netflix is ending its services on Wii U and 3DS

Netflix

Nintendo has now removed the Netflix video application designed for the Wii U and 3DS from both eShops.

As of December 31, 2020, it will no longer be available for download by new users. However, it is still possible for existing users to re-download the applications at this point.

The service for Wii U and 3DS will be discontinued later this year, on June 30, 2021. Here’s Nintendo’s full post from its website:

“From December 31stst, 2020, the Netflix app will no longer be available for new users to download from Nintendo eShop on the Wii U system or Nintendo 3DS family of systems. During that time, existing users will be able to re-download these applications. The service for existing users will run until June 30thth, 2021. Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed Netflix on these platforms over the years. “

Does this mean Netflix is on its way to the Switch? Sadly, it hasn’t been reported since former Nintendo of America president Reggie referred to it in 2019. Read all of this in our Netflix guide.
