The troubled Netflix docuseries Cheer this week, two more of his subjects were arrested in separate criminal cases in connection with alleged sexual misconduct involving minors.
Already reeling from similar charges against series star Jerry Harris, the show saw Robert Joseph Scianna Jr., a 25-year-old coach and choreographer, and Mitchell Ryan, a member of the Navarro College cheer team, arrested.
Scianna Jr. was arrested in Virginia on Wednesday and charged with felony charges for taking indecent liberties with a child and using an electronic communication device to solicit sex. Chesterfield County Police claimed he made an appointment to meet a young person he contacted on social media for sex.
Ryan was also arrested in Texas on Wednesday. Ryan, 23, was charged with aggravated sexual assault on a child related to an unspecified incident that allegedly occurred on July 24, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department records show.
“This has been a nightmare for Mitch and his family,” said Ryan’s attorney Jeremy Rosenthal. “We look forward to Dallas County hearing the truth and this case to be over.”
Five months ago, famed cheerleader Harris was arrested and charged with soliciting nude photos and sex of minors. He faces multiple crimes, including child sexual exploitation and transportation for illicit sexual behavior.
