ST. PETERSBURG – We learn more about the man who died in a house fire in St. Petersburg on Saturday morning.

Family and friends say his name is Albert Maynard, and he was in his sixties.
‘It’s absolutely heartbreaking. I just saw Al yesterday. He consoled me about my father. So with that said, he will really be missed, ”said neighbor Lagenia Williams.
For Williams, knowing her neighbor is gone gets too close to home.
“I’ve known for more than 40 years. We’ve been neighbors and lived in this neighborhood all our lives, ”she said.
When crews came to fight the fire, they pulled him out of the house and tried to save his life.
He was taken to Bayfront Health, where he died.
Researchers say this wasn’t the only loss of life.
‘It started on the side. It seems that the fire area of origin becomes the kitchen. A dog was also found in the house who also passed away. They were the only two in the house, ”said Deputy Firefighter Marshal Lieutenant Steven Lawrence of St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.
If there are any questions, those who live on the tight-knit street of 6th Avenue South will have memories and will be able to lean on each other.
‘He is a very nice, hardworking man. He ran his own business, got up every morning and went to work. His daughter is in college. He was a very, very good man, ”said Williams.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the cause of death has not been determined.
