Necromunda: Hired Gun Revealed By Microsoft Store Page

A new first person campaign shooter set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Necromunda: Hired Gun, has been leaked through a Microsoft Store item. The store page, which is currently still available to view at the time of writing, details a single-player FPS set set in a planet’s beehive town of Necromunda, where players take on the role of a bounty hunter. Players are accompanied by an upgradeable cyber mastiff dog companion, and the description promises “endless” weapon and augment customization.

Choose your contracts. Hunt for your goals. Collect the bounty. ‘ reads the game’s tagline, suggesting that there is a certain amount of freedom in the way you take on jobs in Necromunda: Hired Gun. The few other details also explain that your dog is capable of sniffing and killing enemies ahead of you, and that a grappling hook can move quickly through the game’s “massive” environments.

A pre-order pack known as the Hunter’s Bounty Pack includes a unique blade, outfit skin and the classic 40k weapon, the stub pistol. It also has a ‘new look’ for the cyber mastiff’s toy, which shows how we interact with the robotic dog.

The game is being developed by Streum On Studio, the developer responsible for Warhammer 40,000 game Space Hulk: Deathwing in 2016. It is published by Focus Home Interactive and, according to this store page, will be released on June 1.

Twitter account Idle Sloth managed to find five screenshots of the game, showing an action-packed shooter that contains a seemingly variant of a plasma cannon, as well as the cyber mastiff in action and … is that a Cawdor Bomb Delivery Rat ? Below the well-known Necrumda-goer we also see what clearly is a Luther Pattern Excavation Automata “Ambot” that also comes towards the player.

As of now, we only know the Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One platforms for the game as these are the only ones listed in the Microsoft Store. We will have to wait for an official announcement to see if PC and PlayStation formats are also supported. For more Warhammer, check out our interview with the creators of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, and the news that a slew of free Warhammer games will be free with the next White Dwarf magazine.
