Necaxa accepts advanced negotiations to receive strategic investments

The club reported on more than a year’s process of accepting new investors; sale of the equipment is excluded

Necaxa reported that it is in the process of accepting investors but is ruling out the sale of the franchise. After more than a year’s trial, the club announced that it was about to enter into a “historic strategic investment” deal.

In a statement, they highlighted the experience in club administration that potential Rayos members have, although they did not mention the name of the investors.

“With regard to the concerns raised by the rumors circulating in various media about a possible sale, we would like to make it clear that the Necaxa Club is NOT for sale,” said Aguascalientes club.

“Likewise, we are pleased to announce that after a year of hard work and several meetings, we are very close to concluding a historic strategic investment for our club and Mexican football,” they acknowledge.

According to sources ESPN, a group of investors, including Germany’s Mesut Özil, Eva Longoria and Kate Upton, are interested in buying 50 percent of the shares of the Liga MX club. An MLS club owner would participate in the same partnership.

“Club Necaxa It will continue to operate under the same administration that took over in 2014, achieved promotion and consolidated the team in the First Division, ”the statement said.

Rumors of the sale of the club started weeks ago as it was linked to Red Bull, the brand that owns the team that Checo Pérez runs, with the Necaxa, that version was rejected. It is now recognized that a group of investors is interested in the team.

“We will benefit from this association that has extensive football experience and operates important clubs internationally, which will strengthen us to take our institution to the places where it deserves to be.

“That moment will mark a major turning point in the near future of our institution, preparing us for the first 100 years of our existence. We will not change our name, headquarters or our colors.”
