NC Weather: Severe weather has left central North Carolina largely unharmed

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – Thursday, there were severe weather warnings in central North Carolina, but most of the region escaped unscathed.

Despite several tornado warnings, the only damage report in the region was in Orange County.

In the Cedar Grove neighborhood, trees were cut down, roofs damaged, a basketball hoop broken in half, and a trampoline was seen flying down the street.

The National Weather Service is deploying an investigation team to view the damage and determine whether it was caused by a tornado or straight-line winds.

That team will start looking for damage in Guilford County at 8 a.m. and then work east.

The storms pulled out of the region on Thursday evening, but some rain will linger on Friday.

Friday’s temperatures started in the 1950s, but will even get colder as the day goes on. You can expect it to be quite breezy for most of the day as well.

Saturday and Sunday will see temperatures in the 50s, with more sun on Saturday and more heat on Sunday.
