The Los Angeles Lakers faced the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night of the NBA, the fourth of seven consecutive games that the California franchise will face its Eastern Conference colleagues. The Lakers and Sixers put on a great show showing what they are in season for.
Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid know this season is their last chance to show management and the NBA that they can complement each other and go far in the playoffs. The game against LeBron James and his company was undoubtedly a more than interesting test for the rest of the season.
Those led by Doc Rivers started the game with the high bar usually suggested by those led by Frank Vogel and they managed to win the first quarter by ten points (34-24). The Lakers adjusted some nuts in the second set to reduce the lead to four points, although it wouldn’t be long.
Like the first quarter, the Philadelphia 76ers hit the floor to impose conditions and they did: 65-53 in minutes, although it was far from the overriding difference. The Sixers made the maximum difference in the fourth quarter to 100-86 with five minutes to go, but again the visit managed to take the lead with one (106-105). It wasn’t going to be easy to beat the defending champions and on top of that, Tobias Harris had the last ball of the night to take the 107-106 victory.
