NBA Admits Official Error On CJ McCollum Foul Call vs. Clippers

In last night’s 113-112 defeat, Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum was whistled for a shooting error with 4.8 seconds left, allowing Clippers guard Paul George to make the game-winning free throws. During this morning’s Last Two Minute report, the NBA acknowledged the mistake and said McCollum should not have been called up for a foul.

As noted by Trail Blazers defeated reporter Casey Holdahl, this is Portland’s second meeting with the NBA’s L2M report this week. In Friday’s win over the San Antonio Spurs, the Blazers benefited from a no-call on a final second shot attempt by Jakob Poeltl that should have resulted in free throws. Tuesday night they ended with the short end of the stick.

The full report can be read here on the NBA’s officiating page. The Blazers will try to develop short-term memory and get back on track in tonight’s game against the Denver Nuggets.
