After the Florida Department of Health in Nassau County received a “very limited” supply of the Moderna COVID-19, the county announced a plan to begin distribution of the vaccine.
Greg Foster, Nassau County’s director of Emergency Management, said on Sunday that the county will initiate a ticketing process through Eventbrite on Monday, allowing people to get a ticket online and receive directions by email on how to schedule their appointment and where.
Foster said the county decided to go ahead with this process in an effort to avoid phone line or website jam issues and to prevent residents from camping at night. Such was the case in St. Johns County, when the county operated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Foster said health professionals with direct contact with the patient, who have not received a vaccine through their employers, and those 65 and older can visit www.OneNassau.com to find the “COVID VACCINE.” button and follow the prompts there to start the process of making their appointment.
The county health department will explain to recipients how and when they will get their second shot.

According to Foster, inventories are expected to increase in the coming weeks, but possibly in limited quantities.
“We have received fewer doses than some countries, so we have focused on providing vaccine as soon as possible to those most vulnerable in our community, those most in need. Now we can start complying with the governor’s guidelines and begin providing vaccines to residents over 65, ”said Foster. “It’s a slow process for now, but we’re working hard to get everyone vaccinated.”
The State Department of Health has already begun delivering vaccines to primary care medical personnel and other medical personnel in Nassau County, emergency management officials said.
