Just minutes after NASA’s Perseverance jammed land on Mars, it sent back two historical images – our very first images of the red planet from the elusive Crater lake
Percy, as the robber is called, came through the “seven minutes of terroron Thursday – a series of make-or-break events to land. A successful landing was announced just before 4:00 PM ET at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in California.

Moments later, scientists received the first two photos of the rover, which showed a rocky view of the rover’s new home.

One of the rover’s hazard cameras, which mainly helps with driving, took the black and white photos. The camera is partially obscured by a transparent protective cover. Later images of the rover have a higher resolution.
Percy himself can also be seen in the first image – the large shadow that heralds his arrival.
The photos mark one of the rover’s first successes and show the team on Earth that it made it safely to Mars.

President Joe Biden saw the rover land live from the White House.
“Congratulations to NASA and everyone whose hard work made Perseverance’s historic landing possible,” he said tweeted“Today has again proven that with the power of science and American ingenuity, nothing is beyond the reach of the possibility.”
Scientists said they hope to see “pretty spectacular” video and audio footage, as well as additional photos in the coming days.
The rover, NASA’s most advanced to date, will soon be looking for signs of old life. Billions of years ago, the Jezero crater was home to a large lake, and Percy will collect samples that will be the first to make the trek back to earth for scientists to investigate.
During the first month, they also plan to test a 4.5-pound small helicopter, $ 80 million called Ingenuity. It will attempt the first powered flight in the thin air of Mars, a “Wright Brothers’ moment” in another world.
