NASA | Perseverance reaches the first audio recording on Mars

The NASA published the first audio recording made in Mars thanks to the mission Persistence on the planet.

According to the NASA, the robber Persistence managed to record these sounds on February 19 of this year, 18 hours after the successful landing on the surface of Mars.

According to the space agency, the mast of the rover, which held the microphone Supercam, it was still saved on the cover of Persistence, so the sound is muffled, a bit like the sound you hear when you listen to a seashell or put a hand over your ear. You can only hear a little wind.

Listen to it below:

There is also a laser shot image on the planet

Persistence also managed to capture the first acoustic recording of laser beam impacts on a rock target in Mars.

This recording dates from March 2, 2021 and was also made with the microphone SuperCam.

The target was Máaz (Mars, in Navajo), a rock 3 meters away from the Persistence.
