Names of victims in Indiana FedEx shooting massacre released

Authorities have released the names of the eight people who died in a FedEx facility in Indianapolis who shot disaster on Thursday, indicating that they range in age from 19 to 74 years.

The dead were identified by Indianapolis police as: Matthew Alexander, 32; Samaria Blackwell, 19; Amarjeet Johal, 66; Jasvinder Kaur, 64; Jaswinder Singh, 68; Amarjit Skhon, 48; Karlie Smith, 19; John Weisert, 74.

At least four of the victims were members of the Sikh community, the Sikh Coalition said Friday.

The names of the people injured in the attack have not been released.

Four people were transported to hospitals, one in critical condition with gunshot wounds, officials said. Several others were treated on the spot or walked to nearby hospitals with various injuries.

At least 100 people were in the facility when gunfire broke out around 11 p.m., officials said.

The shooter, identified as former FedEx employee Brandon Scott Hole, ended his life after being confronted by police, according to police.

Hole was questioned by the FBI last year after his mother told police she was worried he would attempt suicide by an agent, the FBI said.

His motive remains unclear.

“I am heartbroken to confirm that my naniji (maternal grandmother), Amarjeet Kaur Johal, is one of the dead in the senseless shooting at the FedEx facility in Indianapolis,” Komal Chohan said, according to the Sikh Coalition.

“I have several family members who work in the institution concerned and are traumatized. My nani, my family and our families should not feel unsafe at work, in their place of worship or anywhere else, ”Chohan continued.

“Enough is enough – our community has been through enough trauma.”
