There is no doubt that Alex had many plans for the Metropolitans and, as he told The Boston Globe, he would have led the Mets as his role model, the “boss” of the New York Yankees, George Steinbrenner.

It’s hard to say anyone could be like George. He was unique. He’s a legend for a reason and he would certainly have been my role model. He always thought at first, “What’s best for the Yankees fans?” and I think that would have been my way of working.
