Mural dedicated to Albert Rodríguez at school in Arecibo

The legacy of comedian and director Albert Rodríguez was honored today with a mural at the National Talent Academy in Arecibo.

A group of visual artists, consisting of Gary Javier, Norberto Ruiz Nieves, Noy Nieves and volunteers from Ciudad Museo, in Añasco, took on the task of working on one of the walls of the school campus where they worked as general manager. , and that shows an image of the deceased actor’s smiling face, with the flag of Puerto Rico.

The artist, who died Monday at the age of 58, stood out for a decade directing the dreams of dozens of students with difficulties in their academic performance, who found support in the academy he founded with animator Deddie Romero and actress. Marian Pabón.

A banner with the phrase “We will always remember you” was also placed in one of the other buildings of the campus.

Radio host Deddie Romero shared in writing a few days ago, “Albert is the most important part of this project that, along with a whole team of teachers, managed to keep young people from becoming demotivated.” It also revealed the artist’s desire to see the Puerto Rican flag adorning one of the walls.

“The team, students and staff of NTA want to fulfill that wish he so desperately wanted to make the flag of our island, which he loved and defended so much, part of our institution in Arecibo,” said Romero at the time.

On Thursday, the actor was fired at the Braulio Castillo Theater, in Bayamón, and yesterday at a public vigil at the Jalvin Funeral Home, in Añasco. Today would be the funeral, which would take place in private.
