LOS ANGELES – Justin Turner and Max Muncy hit three-run homers and the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-5 on Thursday in David Price’s first regular season save.
Muncy’s two-out homer in the seventh off reliever Yency Almonte (0-1) gave the reigning World Series champion a 6-5 lead for their sixth consecutive victory.
Price overcame a difficult situation in the ninth inning with two swinging. Having started most of his 13-year career, the left-handed has taken on a lightening role this season against a star-studded rotation. His other save came as a rookie at Tampa Bay in 2008.
Jimmy Nelson (1-1) pitched a hitless inning to replace Julio Urías from Mexico and the Dodgers (11-2), the team with the most wins in MLB, won in their home stadium on Jackie Robinson Day.
Ryan McMahon and Garrett Hampson made it out of the park for the Rockies (3-10) in low hours finishing a road trip with a 0-6 record.
For the Rockies, Raimel Tapia 5-0. Venezuelans Elías Díaz 3-0; Yonathan Daza 4-3 with an RBI.
For the Dodgers, Puerto Rican Edwin Ríos 3-0. Mexican Julio Urías 2-1, with one scored.
