Multiple people injured, 1 killed in a stabbing in the Canadian library

One person was killed and several people injured after a suspect was stabbed at a Canadian library.

A suspect is now in custody in connection with a lone wolf attack in North Vancouver on Saturday afternoon, officials tweeted

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the violence took place in and around the Lynn Valley library department in the suburb.

Six people were taken to hospital, emergency responders told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Their terms are reportedly unclear.

A man who works at a bank across the street from the library told the store that he witnessed the attacker’s arrest after he may have been shot with rubber bullets by police.

“The response from the police has been great,” said Justin Prasad, according to the CBC. “I’ve never seen so many officers in one area.”

“I hope the victims are okay,” he told the CBC. “I am very sorry that this has happened in our community.”

He called North Vancouver a “quiet and idyllic place” where violence is rare.

“People generally seem to be shocked,” Harvey told the CBC. ‘How the hell can this happen in North Van? I grew up five minutes from here. “
