A Metro-North employee declared sick to be part of the crowd that stormed the Capitol – and has been suspended from an FBI investigation into his role, The Post has learned.
Will Pepe, a worker at Metro-North’s Brewster rail yard, is being investigated for joining the crowd that briefly stopped Congress when it confirmed the election of President-elect Joe Biden, the MTA confirmed.
Pepe, 31, from Beacon, NY, called in sick to attend the event on Wednesday, an MTA source said. He has been suspended without payment because the agency is trying to fire him.
“Effective immediately, this person has been banned from Metro-North unpaid and will be punished in accordance with their collective bargaining agreement pending an investigation,” MTA spokesman Ken Lovett said in a statement.
“This alleged behavior is repugnant and goes against the values of Metro-North, New York and the nation.”
The seven-year-old MTA employee did not respond to a call for comment.
